These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website www.spatialindia.com and the map application at www.spatialindia.com/app (collectively, the "Service"), operated by SpatialIndia ("we", "us", or "our").
By accessing or using the Service in any manner, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
SpatialIndia is a web-based demographic intelligence platform that visualises aggregate statistical data for India's districts and states. The data displayed on the Service is derived from publicly available datasets. SpatialIndia does not collect or display personal data about individuals.
The Service is currently offered free of charge. Paid subscription tiers with additional features are planned for future launch; see Section 8 for details.
Subject to these Terms, SpatialIndia grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for lawful purposes, including research, journalism, policy analysis, and education.
Attribution requirement. If you publicly share, publish, or reproduce any visualisation, chart, or map generated by the Service, you must include the following attribution:
This licence does not include any right to sub-license, sell, or commercially exploit the Service or its outputs beyond the permitted uses described above.
You agree not to:
The datasets integrated into the Service are sourced from third-party government and public sources, each with its own publication date, methodology, and limitations. Conditions on the ground — including demographic, socioeconomic, and administrative boundaries — may have changed significantly since any given dataset was published. SpatialIndia does not independently verify, certify, or guarantee the accuracy of any data displayed on the Service.
The data, statistics, geospatial boundaries, and visualisations provided through the Service are offered strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis. SpatialIndia makes no representations or warranties, express or implied — including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or timeliness — with respect to any data, boundary delineation, statistical value, or information displayed on the Service.
Geographic and administrative boundaries shown on the Service are derived from publicly available datasets and are intended for general reference and research purposes only. Actual boundaries, jurisdictions, and ground conditions may differ from what is depicted, including as a result of changes not yet reflected in the underlying datasets or due to inadvertent errors in data processing.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, including the Indian Contract Act 1872, SpatialIndia expressly disclaims all liability — direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, or otherwise — arising from: (i) any error, omission, or inaccuracy in any data, statistic, or boundary displayed on the Service; (ii) reliance on or use of the Service for any decision, investment, policy, legal, or commercial purpose; or (iii) any discrepancy between the data displayed on the Service and the underlying government or third-party source datasets.
If you identify an error or inaccuracy in the data or boundaries displayed on the Service, we welcome you to notify us at hello@spatialindia.com. We will endeavour to investigate and, where appropriate, correct such errors in good faith. Any such correction shall not constitute an admission of liability on the part of SpatialIndia. Users are always encouraged to independently verify data against primary government sources before relying on it for any purpose.
SpatialIndia. The platform user interface, software, derived composite indices, visual design, branding, and all other original content of the Service are the exclusive property of SpatialIndia and are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved except as expressly granted in these Terms.
Third-party datasets. The underlying datasets displayed on the Service are owned by their respective government bodies, agencies, or open-data contributors and are used under their applicable licences and terms. SpatialIndia makes no claim of ownership over any third-party dataset. Users who share or cite data derived from the Service are responsible for providing appropriate attribution to the original data sources and for complying with each source's licence terms. SpatialIndia is not responsible for any breach of a third-party data licence by a user.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in that policy.
SpatialIndia plans to offer paid subscription tiers that will provide access to additional features. These tiers are not yet available.
Subscriptions are personal to the subscriber and may not be shared, transferred, or sold to another individual or entity. Unauthorised sharing or transfer will be considered a violation of these Terms and may result in termination of the subscription.
When paid tiers launch, specific pricing, feature entitlements, billing terms, and cancellation policies will be published on the Service. Those additional terms will form part of these Terms of Service and will apply to subscribers of the relevant tier.
Features available on the free tier may be changed, moved to a paid tier, or removed at any time without prior notice.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SpatialIndia shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, or decisions made in reliance on information displayed on the Service.
SpatialIndia's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amounts you have paid to SpatialIndia in the three (3) months preceding the claim. For users on the free tier, this limit is zero.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, engaged in abusive or fraudulent activity, or if required by law.
We also reserve the right to discontinue, modify, or restrict any feature of the Service at any time without prior notice.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the updated effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
